Apparently, these are the names to pick if you want your child to be successful

Trying to find the right name for your little one?

It can be tricky to find the right name.

Whatever name you pick has to be popular, but not so popular that they will be sharing the name with half of their eventual class at school.

It has to be unique, but not too unique. And, understandably, you’d want it to sound perfect with your surname.

For years, parents have been getting more and more creative when it comes to naming their children. Mostly thanks to the ever-growing list of sources of inspiration.

Their favourite Marvel movies; TV shows (like Game of Thrones); seasons; foods and hobbies have all been scoured in an effort to find that perfect moniker for their little one.

But it turns out that if you want your child to be successful in life, there are certain names you should pick.

A list put together by jobseeker site Adzuna [via The Sun] looked at 1,500,000 CVs which had been submitted to its servers to find the names of the highest-earning potential.

The most popular names which have the highest-earning potential for girls were Rose (with around €33,552/£30,099); Eleanor (with €31,671/£28,413); and Alice was in third place (with €31,652/£28,396).

Meanwhile, for the boys, it was Leo who proved to be the highest earner (with €46,477/£41,722), followed by Oscar (with €42,092/£37,786), and in third place is George (with €41,598/£37,342).

However, the names of the people who will actually earn the most are a little different.

The top five girls’ names with the highest earning potential are:

  1. Liz
  2. Jo
  3. Michele
  4. Alexis
  5. Jean

The top five boys’ names with the highest earning potential are:

  1. Ed
  2. Bill
  3. Geoff
  4. Bob
  5. Mike

Doug Monro, co-founder of Adzuna, said:

“Ed and Liz top the chart of most valuable names in the UK, meaning workers with these names are worth the most to potential employers.

“As a rule of thumb, those with traditional names consistently rate as higher earners.”

“New mums and dads may want to bear this in mind when christening their babies.”

”It’s interesting that the most successful workers typically use a nickname in their professional lives.

“This could signal an informality and approachability that has helped them climb the career tree.

“Or it could reflect the confidence that comes with success.

“Either way, jobseekers may want to try adopting a nickname to help secure the highest pay levels possible.”
