Free course tells parents exactly what they need to know about social media

Melissa Carton

This is such a great idea!

Every generation of parents have come up against things that they feel they have little control over and for this generation, it’s the internet.

No matter how hard we try to monitor our children, we can’t watch them 24/7, so how can we protect them from potential abuse online?

This free course may offer the answers that parents are looking for and you can do it from the comfort of your own home!

The course created by social media specialist Jane Webster aims to help parents understand things like phone settings and their monitoring options for sites such as YouTube.

Several topics are looked at during the course including decoding the language children use when communicating with each other online and what to do if you find out that your child is being bullied online.

The subjects covered will give parents a starting point and help them make the internet a safer place for their children.

Completely free of charge this course is offered through parenting tech website Code9 Parent and is taught online so you can take part at home.

With more and more children using the internet and the age demographics of children using apps and online games becoming lower every year, it’s more important than ever for parents to have the right knowledge to protect their children from bullies and predators that may be lurking behind the computer screens.
