Royal correspondent tweets reason why Meghan and Harry are moving out

A royal correspondent has tweeted that some members of the royal family find Meghan hard to deal with.

Richard Palmer wrote that the Duchess of Sussex is regarded as “difficult and demanding” by many people she’s close with, including members of Kensington Palace staff.

Palmer also said that there was little truth to the story that Meghan and Harry were moving out because of a “fall out” with Kate Middleton.

However, he did say that it was clear that the two are “not close.”

The Daily Express correspondent took to Twitter early this morning, writing:

“The story behind Harry and Meghan’s move to Frogmore Cottage? Harry and Meghan spreading their wings. No big fallout but Kate and Meghan not close. No royal properties available in London apparently.

“The crazies on Twitter won’t like it but it is clear that Meghan is regarded as difficult and demanding by some in the family and on the staff.”

This comes after reports that a “growing rift” between Meghan and Kate was causing constant tension between Prince William and Harry, leading to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex deciding to move away.

Palmer has disputed these reports, stating that Meghan and Harry cannot find another royal property closer to London.

The correspondent’s comments – and the royal family’s attitudes – have been criticised by some, who believe that Meghan may be an “easy target” given her role as an overtly feminist activist in the past.

The assumption that she and Kate must be fighting has also been critiqued as gendered and unfair.

The couple are expected to make their move to 10-bedroom Frogmore Cottage early next year.
