There really is a quick cure for everything in this world.

If you’re feeling like you just have no energy in the afternoon, or even when you arrive home from the school run, there are some foods that can help perk you up throughout the day.

Here are a few that we absolutely swear by, so next time you’re doing the shopping, make sure to pop a few of these in your basket:

Grapefruit

The inner workings of your body will do somersaults in excitement for this addition. It cuts the fat that clings to the arteries and is a digestive aid. Put the Rennies back in the press. Eat a piece before anything else in the morning and wait half an hour before eating a normal breakfast – this might be a good one to do on the weekends if you have more time.

Cayenne Pepper

Joint pain, the feeling of anxiety and your general health is affected positively when you consume this little wonder on rising. Mix one teaspoon with warm-ish water and down it. It’s anti-bacterial and supports weight loss.

Salmon or oily fish

Skin, hair, nails and a plump complexion? Yes, salmon helps with each one. Wrap a bit round some cream cheese with a sliver of spicy, green chilli-pepper or green pepper alongside and scoff. It may be an idea to keep some in the fridge for snack-time later.

Red skin peanuts

I never believed this until I was at the end of my tether (energy-wise) and remembered I threw a pack of these bad boys into my handbag a month previous. When I say there was an impact, I am not telling porkies. About eight red skin peanuts will give you an almighty energy boost.

Grapes

The Reservatrol in red grapes is particularly brilliant. We condone having a glass of black grape juice and not a glass of red wine but, hey, the later in moderation is a whole other version of superb. Reservatrol is choc-full of antioxidants and can also be taken as a supplement.
