The (already brilliant) bagel just got a WHOLE lot better
I love bagels. Be it smothering one in cream cheese with a coffee or adding chicken and Mediterranean vegetables, the bagel is my friend.
But while I think it is already a brilliant brunch option, Food52 has just gone and made it THAT much better.
That’s because they’ve come up with The Bagel Egg in a Hole.
I know what you’re thinking, that’s going to take much more time and effort, but it actually takes less than 5 minutes and 5 ingredients.
All you need is 1 bagel, some butter, 2 eggs and of course a dash of salt and pepper.
First things first, cut the bagel in half. Melt ½ tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place the bagel (inside down) on it.
Crack an egg into a container (preferably one with a spout) and then carefully pour the egg into the middle of the bagel. Season with some salt and pepper.
Cover the skillet and let it cook for approximately 3 minutes (or until the egg is cooked the way you like it.
Using a spatula, move the creation onto a plate and repeat with the other half of the bagel.
That is, if you feel like treating your other half to a delicious dish!
Bagel Egg in Basket? That sounds like the business. Thanks for the inspiration @Food52 https://t.co/euRc4taiG5 pic.twitter.com/0jQJ7qkzzC
