This honey garlic chicken recipe is perfect if you don’t want a takeaway this week

Olivia Hayes

This sounds so gorgeous!

If you’ve had one too many meals out and takeaways this weekend (it is a bank holiday, after all), then maybe you and the family want to try something a bit different this week.

For many of us, a Chinese takeaway is the ultimate go-to for when we’re all at home watching the telly, however we’re looking at something a little bit healthier.

We found this super easy recipe on Devour Dinner for honey garlic chicken that we’re definitely going to try it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbs butter
  • 2-3 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 small yellow onion diced
  • 2-3 large chicken breasts cubed
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2-3 tbs corn starch – add to 3-4 tbs water
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1/4 cup scallions for garnish

Method:

  • Heat pan.
  • Add butter, garlic and diced onion. Saute for 2-3 minutes until onions start to turn clear.
  • Add cubed chicken and saute until no longer pink.
  • Turn off pan.
  • Add ketchup and soy sauce and stir making sure the chicken is covered.
  • Heat another pan.
  • In a separate bowl mix 2-3 tablespoons of cornstarch and as little water as possible and mix.
  • Add mix to pan.
  • Add honey and stir.
  • Serve over rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions.
