There’s so much to know about newborns!

It feels like as soon as you buy your baby a new babygro they’ve gotten too big and you’re running to the shop to get them something that fits.

Even the sizing can get confusing and a lot of the time it feels like you’ve been left alone to figure things out.

Thankfully in the age of social media, there are mums online figuring things out and sharing what they’ve learned with other new parents.

Caroline Dunaway, @carolinedunaway on TikTok, is a first-time mum who made the mistake of buying the wrong-sized clothes for her baby.

After learning how baby apparel runs, she decided to help her fellow new mums by sharing her newfound knowledge.

“Here’s a random piece of mom advice that I wish I would have known sooner,” Caroline began her video. She then grabbed a onesie from her daughter’s closet and pointed out that most baby clothes have a size range of, for example, three to six months.

“But some only have one size on there, like this six-month one,” she explained. This is what confuses many parents as they are baffled as to whether to buy their four-month-old three-month pyjamas or a six-month one.

“Here’s the rule of thumb. If it says three months, that means it’s a zero to three-month one. If it says 6 months, that means it’s a 3 to 6 month one,” Caroline said.

Not only will you save time, eliminating the need to return clothing to the shop and allowing you to get longer wear out of your baby’s clothes if you buy the larger size.
