We’re obsessed with these!

With International Women’s Day fast on the approach, it’s the perfect time to big up some iconic Irish women and this small business has done just that.

The Wonderkind, based in Cork, recently released a new set of hair clips featuring five inspirational Irish women and we need to get our hands on a set immediately!

The Wonderkind is well known for their girl power hair clips with previous designs including Frida Khalo, Rosa Parks and Greta Thunberg to name but a few.

The project was started by Cork-based Niamh O’Dea and Lisa Rodrigues with all their designs printed in Dublin and hand-assembled in Cork

With International Women’s Day and St Patrick’s Day in the same month Wonderkind decided to create something extra special with their Mnawesome na hEireann hair clip set.

The set includes five iconic Irish women, children’s rights activist Mother Jones, former president Mary Robinson, Irish pirate Grainne Ni Mhaille, Irish freedom fighter Countess Markievicz and cervical cancer activist Vicky Phelan.

Speaking about their new collection Wonderkind say they are delighted that Phelan agreed to be part of it and that each set sold will help raise money for a great cause;

“We’re so thrilled that CervicalCheck campaigner Vicky Phelan gave her blessing to be featured in the Irish edition of the clips.

She has chosen the female empowerment initiative, @shonadotie The Shona Project to be the recipient of the €1 we’ll donate from the sale of each set.

Anyone who matches that donation at checkout will receive a little gift.”

The set of five hair clips costs €13.50 and is available to buy from the Wonderkind website here.

Each set is presented on a bookmark with a little story about each of the five women featured in the Mnawesome na hEireann collection.
