Anne Hathaway shares how her colleagues helped when she became a mum

Becoming a mum is no simple task but it’s definitely easier with a little help from our friends.

Anne Hathaway recently opened up on The Ellen Show about how her Oceans 8 co-workers did just that during filming.

Like many first time mums, Anne felt very conscious of how her body had changed when taking on her first film after giving birth.

It’s hard to believe someone so stunning can get the same pangs of self-doubt as the rest of us but nevertheless, the 35-year-old was a little apprehensive when she went back to work.

Talking to Ellen, Hathaway revealed that when she walked onto the set she tried her best to feel confident amongst the other actresses.

“I walked on the set, my weight’s a little up and I’m aware of it. But I’m in my jeans, I’ve done my best and I’m going to love myself no matter what”.

In the true spirit of sisterhood though, her costars reminded her that she is one gorgeous new mother. In fact, she said the first person to compliment her on set was fellow mum Sandra Bullock who told her she was ‘looking good mama’.

Cate Blanchett also chimed in to tell her how she amazing she looked in her jeans but the most fantastic boost to her self-esteem came from the ledge bag that she is, Rihanna.

Rihanna looks up and goes ‘Damn girl you got an ass!’ I loved it so much I was like ‘really?’ And she goes ‘You got an ass like me’

This story made my heart burst as I know what it’s like to struggle with body issues after becoming a mum. Even eight months after giving birth, the mum-tum still makes me second guess every outfit I put on.

It’s so good to see women support each other, especially in a competitive industry like acting which puts huge pressure on women to constantly look perfect.

I would highly recommend other women to take inspiration from this. If you meet a new mum tell her how great she looks and how fab she’s doing. You never know how much she needs to hear it.
