It’s an emotional day for dads Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian as their daughter Blake turns one today.
The dads both penned moving birthday tributes to their little girl this morning. Brian said he can’t get over how quick the first year of Blake’s life went by.
The presenter said becoming a dad is the “greatest privilege”.
Alongside multiple photos of him and his little girl, the proud dad shared:
“Happy 1st birthday to our baby girl Blake. How are you 1 already? This has been the quickest year of my life & probably the most emotional.”
“What a journey we had to get you here safely,” the dad wrote, reflecting on his and Arthur’s surrogacy journey.
“It has been the greatest privilege of my life so far watching you grow daily from that little baby I held in my arms one year ago today to the little girl who is now constantly on the move.”
Brian said Blake is always keeping them on their toes.

“My love for you is so great and powerful that it actually scares me. It’s my duty to ensure you are loved and feel safe every day of your life.”
Brian said both he and Arthur feel incredibly proud of themselves today too. They have “accomplished so much in a year” and “are still relatively sane”.
The family celebrated Blake’s birthday with a huge celebration at Barberstown Castle. Their nearest and dearest gathered to mark the special day.
Brian and Arthur’s daughter Blake was born via surrogacy on September 1st, 2022. Brian’s sister Aoife was their surrogate.
