Mum’s search for doctor who helped her seriously ill baby on flight

Jade Hayden

The only thing worse than having a sick baby is having a sick baby on a flight.

Where do you go? What can you do? Who could possibly help you?

As a parent, it’s a terrifying thing to happen, made only worse by the fact that you’re up in the air without a hospital in sight.

That’s what happened to mum Lesley Keeley when she was travelling from Marsa Alam to Birmingham last week.

She was with her daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Ben, when Nancy become unresponsive.

The baby began having nosebleeds and her eyes rolled back into her.

Understandably, Lesley and Ben were scared.

In a Facebook post shared by the mum, she said that she was “grateful” for the doctor who came to their aid.

“She saw what was happening and came to the rescue. If it wasn’t for this lady my little girl probably wouldn’t be here or she could’ve been left with brain damage.

“My little girl’s temperature had got that dangerously high she was gong to start having convulsions.”

Lesley continued:`

“I know as doctor that is a duty to look after others, however you could of easily sat there and not come forward.

“You also didn’t have to stay with us until the paramedics arrived. I really would appreciate if everyone could share this status and help me find this lady. So I can thank her once again and let her know how my daughter is.”

She went on to say that all she knows is the doctor’s first name – Jo – and that she lives about 40 minutes from Birmingham.

The family were on the plane on January 22nd.
