Vicky Phelan has given an update about how she is feeling.

After attending an event at Waterford SETU, the mum said that she is still getting out and about, but some days are harder than others.

She was attending a ceremony for the first-ever Vicky Phelan Honorary Research Chair in Equality & Access to Education.

Vicky told her followers that she is still “holding her own”.

She told another follower that she can still go out but it takes a lot out of her.

“I am just about getting out and about but it takes an awful lot out of me. This event was worth the pain I endured afterward though.”

Earlier this month, Vicky revealed she was stable enough to enjoy a family holiday to Spain.

Doctors told the mum that she was well enough to travel with her family for the special trip.

“I got the go-ahead a couple of weeks ago from my medical team that my disease was stable enough for me to go away on holidays and I jumped at the opportunity.”

Vicky and her loved ones jetted off to Cambrils on the Costa Daurada for a well-needed getaway.

“I feel refreshed after a week away, some heat in my bones and a change of scenery.”

Vicky stopped chemotherapy treatment last November.

Sharing on Instagram, the mum said that she decided to stop chemotherapy after her first dose on October 18th.

“I was horrendously ill for almost two full weeks.

“I decided that I have had enough of putting my body through torture. At this stage, my treatment is palliative anyway.

“There is nothing else that can be done medically. And so, I decided that, for me, quality of life is far more important to me now than quantity of life if the extra time that I might get means that I have to go through hell for 2-3 weeks every month.”

Vicky said her goal is to spend quality time with her loved ones and making memories.
