Public support for the nurses strike continues today as the #StandWithNursesAndMidwives hashtag trends on social media.
The tag rose to the top of Ireland’s trending topics on Twitter today as 37,000 nurses and midwives took part in the INMO’s second 24-hour stoppage this year.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action two months ago. They are striking at 240 locations today for better pay and working conditions.
Support for the strike is dominating social media this afternoon as hundreds of people take to Twitter to share images of their local pickets.
