“I made it”: Vicky Phelan shares uplifting update after special night out

Vicky Phelan has shared an uplifting update with her followers after a special night out.

The mum-of-two said she felt like her old self again after attending The Stunning gig in Lisdoonvarna.

She couldn’t help but gush about how enjoyable it was to see her favourite band live.

“I made it! I promised Steven and Joe that I would be in Lisdoonvarna on December 4 to watch them play an intimate gig at the Royal Spa Hotel even if I had to go there in a wheelchair!”

“Well, I am delighted to tell you all that I made it to the gig last night and that I did NOT need a wheelchair.”

Vicky explained that she had treatment on Monday and was unsure about how she would feel after it. “In this game of chicken with terminal cancer, you never know how you are going to be after treatment so it makes it difficult to plan.’

“Making plans and having something to look forward to is SO important. It gets you out of the bed in the morning and gives your life purpose.”

She explained that she really took care of herself so she could see The Stunning live.

The cervical cancer campaigner said the gig helped her “remember ME, the Vicky before cancer who loved nothing more than going out with her friends to listen to live music”.

The gig helped her and her friends “forget about our worries and to get lost in the music for two hours and WHAT a performance!”

“I look forward to the next gig,” she added.

Vicky also praised the accommodating staff at the Royal Spa Hotel for looking after her.

“Thank you to my friends for putting a HUGE smile on my face last night and helping me to make more wonderful memories.”
