Would you base your baby’s name on getting free internet?

An internet service provider is offering parents who name their baby after their company 18 years of free wifi.

Swiss service provider Twifi are advertising the offer on their website, saying that parents who name their child Twifia or Twifius will be able to avail of it.

The website asks parents to upload a photo of their child’s birth certificate.

Once the company has verified the baby’s name, parents will then be provided with their internet service for free for the next 18 years.

One Swiss couple already availed of the offer in October of last year, with Twifia appearing on their daughter’s birth cert as a middle name.

The parents reportedly told local media they wished to remain anonymous as they were somewhat embarrassed about their decision.

“We want to remain anonymous to those around us because we don’t want to justify ourselves,” they said. “The accusation of having sold our child’s name hits us very hard.”

Twifi’s CEO, Philippe Fotsch, also said he would personally pay for the couple’s wifi if the company was to ever go bust before the child turns 18, as “a matter of honour.”

The offer is still available on the company’s website for other parents who wish to avail of it.
