Kathryn Thomas pens sweet message to baby Ellie to mark six weeks

“The wedding will happen when it happens.”

Kathryn Thomas has opened up about getting married and becoming a mother, admitting that for her, baby comes first.

The presenter is pregnant with her first child, due later in the spring.

She and fiancé Padraig McLoughlin, who became engaged last year, had planned to tie the knot later this year but Kathryn says she’s happy to push back her big day.

“We had originally looked at October of this year to get married but everybody has been saying the first six months is the most precious time and do we really want to be worrying about table plans, and flowers and a wedding dress?” she told VIP.

“I thought, ‘Yes, I can do it, no bother’, but in reality I don’t know what type of labour I’m going to have, what type of child I’m going to have, so the wedding will happen when it happens but baby is the focus now.”

She admitted that she still feels greatful that she’s becoming a mum.

“For so long the focus was on getting pregnant, and now that I’m pregnant the focus has been on accepting that and believing that and feeling so thankful. And then there was work to get through too,” she said.

In a candid interview on the Late Late Show last month, she revealed that she had suffered two miscarriages in the past.

“It was very difficult to stay positive because all of my life, all of my job… everything that I do, for me it’s like one of the best things in the world is instilling positivity and self belief,” she explained.

“You go through self-blame, you go through ‘why me’, you go through ‘is it ever going to happen’ and it’s very testing on a relationship as well.”
