Kim Kardashian defends maternity line SKIMS and this is why I agree with her

The reality star has responded to the backlash.

Last week Keeping Up With The Kardashian star Kim Kardashian announced that she would be releasing a maternity line called SKIMS.

While many were very excited about the announcement many others have criticised the new line saying that it is shapewear and not something that should be marketed to pregnant women.

Kardashian however defends the collection and says that it is not intended to make pregnant women look slimmer.

Kardashian posted to Twitter the day after the collection was announced to defend herself and her maternity line.

She says SKIMS is to help pregnant women bear the weight of their bumps and nothing to do with looking slim;

“To anyone who has an issue with maternity solutionwear, and if you haven’t been pregnant before you may not know the struggle of what it’s like carrying all of this weight the way I did along with millions of strong women, @skims maternity line is not to slim but to support.”

Many other Twitter users came to Kim’s defense, even stating that support for pregnant bellies is not a new thing;

“Sorry ladies but shape wear for pregnant women is not a new thing. They sell them at maternity shops all over. I wore one through both of my pregnancy. It held my baby belly up while wearing dresses.”

This is exactly what I thought the first time I saw the collection as I used something similar during my pregnancies to help take pressure off my back.

As a mum I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Kim’s new collection. I don’t think it’s shapewear and I actually think it’s great that she has included so many skin tones in the collection as that doesn’t happen often enough.
