Here are the top 5 foods to include in your diet to super-charge your fertility

Trine Jensen-Burke

There is no getting away from the fact that there is a huge link between the food we eat and our overall health and feeling of wellness.

Eating healthy can help protect us from many lifestyle-related illnesses, as well as keep us fitter and even improve our mood and levels of happiness.

What it can also do, is keep your reproductive system functioning better. That’s right. And even if you don’t have babies on the brain right this minute, making sure your reproductive organs are healthy can make it far easier to get pregnant when you do decide to try for a baby.

Cutting down on processed foods and limiting sugar intake is always good, both for your overall health and also fertility, but did you know there are some specific foods you should include in your diet when it comes to increasing your chances of conceiving?

Here are five foods Dr Anna Cabeca, a trained gynaecologist, hormone and integrative medicine expert always recommend eating more of to her patients who are looking to get pregnant:

1. Avocados
2. Coconut Oil
3. Wild-Caught Salmon
4. Oysters
5. Brazil Nuts

Good fats are a common denominator in four of the above, and as for oysters, these little beauties are packed with zinc, which increases the production of good-quality eggs.

Other foods that are also said to be great for fertility are:

Figs: Figs contain a lot of iron, which are important for healthy eggs and ovulation.

Seaweed: Eating this is great for the adrenals, which are organs vital to fertility health.

Berries: Any kind of berries are good at protecting eggs from damage and ageing because they are full of antioxidants.
