Woman gives birth live on social media… with views racking up to more than 1 million

Olivia Hayes

A woman from Germany has uploaded a video of her giving birth on YouTube.

The reason behind showing the whole world her unassisted birth is that she wants other people to know what it’s like. She said that centuries ago, children used to watch mothers giving birth so they would be familiar with the process, however, we rarely get a chance to do that anymore.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sarah Schmid said: “In old cultures the girls would watch their mothers give birth so they would know what it was like. Now the chance to do this is very small.

“This gives people the chance to see birth, and especially birth without intervention. It’s a rare thing to see.”

Two videos were uploaded onto YouTube of the birth, with one gaining 688,000 and the second racking up 700,000, meaning that there’s now more than 1.4 millions views on the clips.

She continued, saying: “Some people are excited and some think it’s the most stupid think I could do. I don’t mind. I love my happy and healthy family.”

Sarah has six children; Johanna, 11, Jonathon, 10, Emanuel, eight, Elisabeth, six, Konstantin, three, and, Kiran, one. She has given birth to all of her children outside of hospital.
