Tbh, we just find this a bit weird.
A mum has taken to Reddit because she’s angry that her husband won’t stick up for her. But even more than that, she’s livid at the fact that her mother-in-law wants their future children to call her mommy.
She wrote:
“My MIL wants our future children to call her mommy (mil first name) and me be a mommy (my first name).
“I told my DH that I am not OK with that at all. If I can’t be my own child’s mommy then I’m just not having kids. He thinks it’s not a big deal and I’m just being dramatic.
“He doesn’t see a problem with it because his brother’s kids call her that. And he says they don’t have any problems with it.
“Also, he supposedly called MIL’s mother (mommy first name) which is why he is mad at me.”
Many replied to the thread saying they were on her side, and think her husband should stick up for her.
One wrote:
“Holy shit, is your MIL for real??? She absolutely does NOT get to be called mommy, and your husband really sucks for not supporting you on this. Not only that, but she is in turn demanding that she gets to pick your mother name as well. Not okay.”
While another posted:
“NTA (Not The Asshole) that’s super weird and gross. She should be happy and excited to be Grandma or whatever. You’re their mom, not her. What a creep.”
One more simply said: “RED FLAG.”
