Politician makes history as she breastfeeds daughter in her campaign video

A politician’s campaign video has gone viral after she decided to breastfeed her daughter during it.

Kelda Roys is running for governor in Wisconsin.

She’s also a mum of two who recently succeeded in banning toxic chemicals from baby bottles.

While Kelda talks about this in her video, she breastfeeds her infant daughter because, like most babies, she needs to eat every now and then.

Kelda told The Cap Times:

“Like most working parents around the state, I juggle a lot of things and responsibilities, and I wear a lot of hats.

“When we were shooting the video, my family was obviously there, and when the baby needs to eat I just feed her.

“In 2018, people are hungry for candidates who are authentic and speak the truth. I don’t want to have to hide a really important part of myself in order to win an election.”

The 38-year-old received a lot of praise on social media, with many other parents commending her for normalising breastfeeding.

They also applauded Kelda for showing that women can be mothers and leaders at the same time.

“Brilliant!!! And an empowered International Woman‘s Day to you, too. The best of luck to you,” said one user.

“Wish I lived there so I could vote for you,” said another.

As part of her campaign, Kelda also says she wants to make US communities safe for families and children by increasing gun control measures.
