This seizure first aid video is something that every parent should show their child

Melissa Carton

It could save a life!

This video from Epilepsy Action Australia teaches children how to help a classmate or friend while they are having a seizure and it’s something that every child should see.

The short education film not only helps children understand what’s happening when they are having a seizure but also how to tell between the different types of seizures.

When I was in primary school one of the other students in my class had epilepsy so we were all taught first aid and how to look after her if she had any medical issues.

I think first aid is extremely important for children to have a basic understanding of as there is not always an adult close by when they’re with friends, especially when they’re teens and doing a lot more things independently.

Seeing a friend in distress can be very frightening for a young child which is another important reason to educate your child on seizures and similar medical conditions.

The more they know, the better they will be able to deal with the issue should it arise.

Epilepsy Action Australia has several informative videos for both children and adults on what epilepsy is and how you can help someone dealing with it and you can find more of them on their Facebook page.
