Cow & Gate baby food recalled over pieces of rubber discovered in jars

Parents are asked not to feed it to their babies.

A batch of Cow & Gate baby food has been recalled due to possible contamination.

Some jars of Cow & Gate Cheesy Broccoli Bake 10 months + Children (Stage 3) have been found to contain small pieces of thin blue rubber glove, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has said.

Danone Early Life Nutrition issued the recall at the beginning of this weekend apologised to customers, saying the product is not up to the company’s “usual high quality standards”.

“The product does not pose a health risk, but we are recalling it as it does not meet our usual high quality standards.

“We are therefore asking parents not to feed Cheesy Broccoli Bake with this best before date to their babies.

“We are sorry that this happened and would like to reassure parents that this is an isolated incident.”

In a statement, the FSAI confirmed that the affected batch was produced in Poland and was only sold in Boots stores in Ireland.

The relevant jars have a best before date of 28 December 2020.

Customers are advised to look for these details on any jars of this baby food that they have already bought.

“No other batches of this product or any other Cow & Gate products are affected by this recall,” the statement said.

“The implicated batch was sold by Boots Ireland only.”
