There will be changes to the social welfare and child benefits payment schedules over the Easter weekend
As we approach the Easter holidays, recipients of social welfare and child benefits should be aware of changes to the payment schedule.
This year, Easter Sunday falls on March 31st, with a bank holiday on April 1st, meaning banks and post offices will be closed over the bank holiday weekend.
Therefore, Child Benefit which is normally paid on the first Tuesday of the month, will be paid on either on Friday, March 29th or Saturday, March 30th.
It’s also probable that social welfare recipients who are due payment on April 1st will likely be paid on Friday, March 29th or Saturday, March 30th due to the bank holiday.
For the Easter Weekend, An Post has confirmed the following schedule changes to the social welfare, child benefit and state pension payment collections.
Wednesday, March 27th:
Payments due for collection on Thursday, March 28th may be collected from Wednesday, March 27th.
Thursday, March 28th:
Payments due for collection on Friday, March 29th or Monday, April 1st may be collected from Thursday, March 28th.
Friday, March 29th (Good Friday):
The Post Office will be open until 1pm and any payments are due for collection on Friday, March 29th or Monday, April 1st may be collected.
Saturday, March 30th (Easter Sunday):
No Counter Services – the Post Office Closed.
Monday, April 1st (Easter Monday):
No Counter Services as the Post Office will be closed. Any payments due for collection on Monday, April 1st may be collected from Thursday, March 28th.
The payment dates for all social welfare payments will resume as normal from Tuesday, April 2nd.
