Here Are The GENIUS Parenting Hacks All Mums Are Going To Wish They Knew Sooner

Trine Jensen-Burke

Being a parent is no easy job – and should really come with some form of instructions.

The problem, as we all come to learn, is that it does, in fact, not – which means our parenting knowledge is often hard-earned. Really hard earned.

Like; imagine if you could go back in time to when you were a brand new mama and arm yourself with some of the knowledge you have today? How AMAZING wouldn’t that be? And what exactly would you tell yourself?

Even better; if you are a brand new mama, here is what Mumsnet users wished they’d known about parenting way back when. And believe us, there really are some great (and unusual) tips in here.

Here are some of our favourites:

While a lot of the tricks are practical measures for babies, such as how to dress them, there are also instructions for toddlers and older children.
ClearEyesFullHeartsCantLose had a tip we love that could prevent future messes:

“Lift the flaps on the sides of juice cartons so the kids can use them as handles and not squeeze juice all over themselves.”

Here’s another one:

This one is genius:

Oh, the “up-and-over” method!
These clever mamas have more gold for us:

GuinnessGirl writes: ‘When trying to chivvy a slow/grumpy/uncooperative child to hurry UP on the way back to the car, simply utter the six magic words “Bet you can’t beat me to..”‘

Another tip for getting an ill child to swallow medicine is, according to user Recall: “Calpol (any medicine) mixed with icing sugar – spread on top of a fairy cake.”

And Recall continues with perhaps the simplest, but maybe most effective tip to get kids to eat their vegetables (oh, how we’ll be trying this!): “Edible glitter sprinkled on top of broccoli.”
