The hilarious way Corrie’s Jennie McAlpine hides her baby bump on set

Gas.

There are few jobs where it’s totally acceptable to have to hide that you’re pregnant.

Being an actor who’s playing a character who isn’t pregnant is one of them… And yeah, that’s pretty much it. Not really acceptable to have to keep that information to yourself anywhere else, to be honest.

When you’re the star of a soap though, it’s generally grand to have to hide your baby bump for continuity reasons.

There are a couple of ways this can be achieved – wearing baggy clothes, not being shot from the neck down, and generally just standing behind things tend to do the job.

According to Coronation Street‘s Jennie McAlpine though, produces have found another novel way to ensure that viewers are none-the-wiser to her ever-growing bump – by sticking her behind a Ford Fiesta.

Yeah, really.

Speaking on Lorraine earlier today, Jennie explained how the crew were hiding her bump.

“OK so we started with perhaps a mug like this and then we went on to a handbag. I kid you not, last week they hid it with a Ford Fiesta.”

A literal Ford Fiesta, like.

Iconic.

Jennie is expecting her second child later this year.

She and husband Chris Parr are already parents to four-year-old Albert, who the mum says was looking forward to the birth of his new brother or sister… until he got bored.

“He was excited… And then after, a bit like you, he gets bored of waiting,” she said.
