Mum-of-four shares post-birth recovery hack everyone should know about

postpartum recovery hack

So clever.

I remember being a few weeks away from my due date on my first baby, and trying to get the hospital bag in order, my bestie, who had already given birth twice at this stage, reminded me to pack ‘some really gross, old undies’ – so that I could literally throw them out after I had worn them in the days following the birth.

I followed her advice, and didn’t think much of it, marvelling only at how no one really warns you about just how full-on those postpartum days are, and just how much (sorry in advance!) blood and slime and gunk comes out of your body after having given birth.

However, mum-of-four Chrissy Horton recently took to TikTok to share her own special postpartum recovery hack – and this is so inspired:

“Four kids later and I’m just now figuring out that period panties are the way to go when it comes to recovery after birth,” Horton said in her TikTok.

“I found they don’t work in the first few days because the flow is pretty heavy, but after it starts to lighten up, this is the best option. You don’t have to wear those diapers or maxi pads, they’re way more comfortable and I wish I’d figured this out sooner!”

The new mum goes on to show the ones she’s been wearing (that come from Amazon, handily enough). They’re bamboo fabric, hold up to two tampons worth of fluid, and the waistline is perfect if you’ve had a caesarean.

“I wish I’d know about this sooner so I wasn’t wearing a diaper for the past three weeks,” Horton added.

“I wish I thought of that!”

The video has been watched thousands of times and other mums are praising Horton for her brilliant hack.

“Girl, I wish I would have thought of that,” commented one mum.

Another added, “Yes! This brand is great but they run pretty tight so SIZE UP!”

“I feel this so much!” chimed in another. “With my second I used Always postpartum undies. Just posted a video about them.”
