This name has caused quite a lot of controversy.
A mum has been called out after giving her son quite a controversial name. She wanted her baby boy to have a “manly” name and decided to call him Alpha Mael.
Yes, really.
The mum explained on Facebook that she wanted a unique name, but people were shocked by the one she chose.
She said the name is “different but not silly” but many disagreed and felt her child would be bullied in the future over the name.
One said: “Does she realise his name is going to get shortened… to Alph.”
Another added: “This is just laughable.”
One mum said she was being selfish: “That just sounds embarrassing. I really hope she changes it, her son is going to be laughed at his whole life.”
Another said: “Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet or a geometry term or a term for a position in a group or personality trait. It’s not a name and it sounds pretentious as one.”
Many agreed that there are much nicer names out there that the mum could have chosen song. Others suggested choosing a traditional boys name like William or George.
