There’s an App that allows men to check the quality of their sperm (No doctor needed)

There is pretty much no end to what we can do with our smart phones these days.

And now, it seems, we can also keep tabs on our fertility – or, at least men can.

According to MailOnline, a new app has just been developed that will let men check the quality of their sperm strength – all without having to set foot in a doctor’s office.

No seriously, it’s true. The YO Home Sperm Test has been developed so that you can turn the camera of your smartphone into a microscope powerful enough to see the concentration of sperm.

And, as we all know, the higher the concentration of those little swimmers, the better the chance of making a baby. And this app will let your man check the not only the concentration but also the mobility of his sperm. Again, better mobility, higher chances of sperm making it all the way to the egg.

Crazy, right?

How does it work? Well, according to the LA-based technology company Medical Electronic Systems, you have to download the app before purchasing a $50 starter kit that comes complete with collection cups, liquefying powder to mix with the sample, testing slides, a plastic pipette and a YO clip.

The clip then attaches to your smart phone to take a video of you, eh, sample.

To do the test, the user will have to collect their sample in a cup before adding the vial of liquefying powder. Let this mix (it will turn pink, apparently) and then set aside for 10 minutes.

Once this is ready, you can use the pipette to place a drop of the liquid onto a test slider, and insert this into the YO clip, which will then start analysing the sample for you.

And that’s it, apparently. In about 30 seconds the app will have taken a video that will appear on your phone screen alongside the analysis of the sperm count and motility.

Here is a little video to explain how the app actually works:
