“We lost the baby.”
James Van Der Beek has confirmed that wife Kimberley has suffered a miscarriage.
The couple were expecting their sixth child together before the actor announced the sad news on last night’s instalment of Dancing With The Stars.
He said that he had been planning to sit this week of the competition out due to the loss, but that in the end, he decided against it.
“My wife Kimberly went through every expectant parent’s worst nightmare – we lost the baby,” he said.
“The little soul that we had expected to welcome in our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond.
“You never know why these things happen. That’s what I’ve been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together.”

James and Kimberley announced that they were expecting their sixth child together just over one month ago.
At the time, they said that they were “thrilled beyond belief.”
“It breaks you open, it opens up your heart, it deepens your appreciation,” James went on say last night.
“It makes you more human. I really didn’t think I would be dancing tonight, but Kimberly from her hospital bed said to me, “I am not done watching you dance.”‘
James and Kimberley have five children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, and Gwendolyn.
The pair married in 2010 following an intimate ceremony in Tel Aviv, Israel.
