They welcomed little Chicago earlier this week.
And it turns out that the newborn’s name has particular significance to her parents, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
The couple welcomed the “healthy, beautiful” baby girl via a surrogate on Monday.
Revealing the news on her website, Kim said:
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl.
“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.
“North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
Kim confirmed her daughter’s name, Chicago, just a few days later.
And the moniker has a particularly special meaning – besides being her dad’s home town.
According to E! News, the name is actually a tribute to Kanye’s late mum, Donda, who passed away in 2007.
A source told the publication:
“Kanye came up with the name and Kim loved it the significance behind the name.
“It was a mutual decision, which they discussed and agreed upon together.”
Another source said that the rapper was keen to pay tribute to his hometown as well as his beloved mum.
They added:
“Kim loves the nickname, and North is already calling her Chi. It’s super cute.”
