Katie Price admits she could’ve left her kids “without a mum” after drink-drug car crash

“I could have killed someone. I could have killed myself.”

Katie Price has addressed the car crash she got into last year after getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

In her new show for Channel 4, Mucky Mansion, the reality star said she had hit “rock bottom” and could’ve left her five children without their mother after the crash, in which her car was flipped.

Katie avoided prison time and was given 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court to drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving while banned. She had told police who arrived at the scene of the crash: “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all.”

In the new show, Katie opened up about her regret and how she is now committed to getting help in turning her life around.

“I mean I can deal with a lot of things, stress, pressure, I breathe that. Behind closed doors there’s drama, no ones life is perfect,” she said. “When it hits me personally, that’s what I can’t deal with.

“I regret getting in the car. I could have killed someone. I could have killed myself. My kids might not have had a mum. It’s awful.”

Filming of the show was temporarily halted after the incident as Katie spent 30 days afterwards at the Priory rehabilitation centre.

The I’m a Celeb alum went on to say the crash and its aftermath gave her a rude awakening about where her life was headed.

“I was rock bottom at that point. It was a wake up call,” she continued. “I don’t want to be in that situation again.

“In fact, I don’t want to be in a situation where I feel that sad inside that I need to just go and do something, be destructive and hurt people around me because I don’t know how to cope with it. I have now decided to see a therapist every week for the rest of my life and put my hand up and say yeah, I need help, help me.”

Katie said that while there are ongoing “situations” and “consequences” as a result of what she did, she is grateful she’s “still alive” and is now focused on the future.

“My house is now turning into the family home that I couldn’t focus on before for years,” she said. “And now I am turning it back to my home, my hub, it’s all about the future and getting to the next stage.”
