If you’re bringing the kids to a music festival this summer, this product is a must have

Melissa Carton

Many families will be heading to music festivals this summer.

Last year I was at a camping music festival and couldn’t get over the number of children that were there.

There were moments during the weekend that even I got a little overwhelmed with all the noise, so I wondered how tiny children were dealing with it.

Then during one gig, I spotted a little girl on her dad’s shoulders wearing these.

These may look like regular headphones but they’re actually ear-defenders,noise-blocking headphones that protect young children’s ears from loud noises.

Now you might be asking yourself  ‘well why would you bring a child at all if you feel it would be too loud?’.

A good example of when these would come in handy is if there is a big age gap between your children and you’ve planned to go to a festival. While an older child would be fine with listening to a concert a toddler might become distressed.

We’re planning on bringing the kids to a couple of music festivals this year and while I know my son is excited to see some of the acts I was worrying about how my daughter, who will be just shy of one, would cope and thought I might have to leave her with a sitter.

If I pick her up a pair of these though she’ll be able to come with us and we can enjoy the festival as a family.

On the subject of baby sitters, sometimes they cancel.

There have been several times myself and my husband had planned a night out only to find out our sitter could no longer make it.

If you’ve booked concert tickets way in advance you may not want to see them go to waste and instead opt to bring the kids with you.

In this situation, these ear defenders are a great way for you to still get to head to a festival while keeping the kids happy.

Available from PuddleDucks.ie for €24, these ear protectors come in six stunning colours and two size options.

I personally love the dark pink but the bright green is a close second!

Aside from festivals they can be used for all types of travel and incredibly useful if you have a child with sensory sensitivities.

We’re living beside a construction site at the moment and I honestly wouldn’t mind an adult sized version for myself!
