Mums are raving about these time-saving hair-care hacks

Clodagh McKeon

Time saving hair-care, yes please!

Every mum has trouble finding the time to pamper themselves like they used to before children, but it’s important to take care of yourself too.

There may not be tonnes of time to spend on self-care routines anymore but with these fast-acting hair-care hacks and products, you’ll be looking fab in no time.

  1. Introducing the mum-bun hair mask.

Washing your hair as a busy mum is difficult enough but we’ve got a hack that’ll have your hair feeling fabulous after you do get to wash it.

The day before we wash our hair, it tends to be greasy and flat. We say, take advantage of it.

Slick back the hair into a low mum-bun, lather on a hair mask for the evening and wash it off the next morning.

Mums who have suffered with postpartum hair loss have said this has really helped them thicken and soften their hair after they’ve giving birth.

There are lots of hair masks out there but if you’ve just given birth, try to find a hair mask with quality ingredients that will encourage hair growth.

The Andrew Fitzsimons Virgin Repair Moisture Mask is one that’s had great results on damaged, frail hair.

It’s vegan and cruelty free, nourishes dry hair and it’s a deeply conditioning hair mask that leaves hair super shiny, soft and smooth.

Picking up a hair mask that focuses solely on hair thickening could be a very good investment too.

This Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Hair and Scalp Mask is a little bit more expensive but has had some incredible results.

2. A good dry shampoo is key.

Having unwashed hair for days and days is no biggie, once you’ve good dry shampoo that is.

There’s an abundance of hair-care products out there but we want to trust that our hair is getting taken care of without taking the time to wash it.

The new Olaplex No.4D Clean Volume Detox Dry Shampoo will be your best friend. This transforms hair and refreshes your roots between washes which is all we’re asking for.

It’s quick, easy and helps hair appear first-day fresh and voluminous, lovely!

3.  Think ahead with your hairstyles.

Your baby is finally asleep, so now it’s your time to, well, to go to sleep too. But before that, it’s time to treat yourself to a nice hot shower and this time, you get to wash your hair.

Drying your hair can take up to an hour and we do not have time for that, no no.

So, instead of the blow-drying and the styling, just lightly towel dry your hair with your micro-fibre, satin, or soft cotton towel, use a little spray in conditioner, braid your hair and sleep on it.

Braiding your hair will give you the perfect natural waves when you wake up meaning no additional effort needed in the morning.

You could use rollers, a wave bun or a sock if you prefer, but the point is, always think ahead with your hairstyles.

@cordinahairMum hack alert! ⚠️ This nifty hair tool is a game changer for busy mums. Hair ties and messy buns cause damage to your hair. Set your hair in the Waver Bun whilst you go about your day. No hair dents and no hair breakage. You also get heatless waves. ?‍♀️♬ original sound – Dina Butti
